I´ve been to Saba several times over the last few years and this is the first time I tried Scout´s: I absolutely loved the experience!.
Dear Barbara & Wolfgang
Three days at Scout's Place feel like an eternity of relaxation and tranquility. Perfect location in the middle of Windwardside. Great views but above all the very personal atmosphere that you create. We loved it!
Thank you & see you soon!

Hello Scout's Place
This is Alberto Salazar, one of the guys doing the installations for Chippie UTS. I stayed at Scout's Place last week at room number 2. The guy that needed to print some documents at the front desk. How was Carnival?I write to thank you for the great service and attention you provided to us during our stay at Saba. We had a hard time with all the work but it was only bearable thanks to you all. I wish we had more time to enjoy Saba. I write some personal messages:
To Stephan: Thank you for the chat and the attention. Most of the days, you were the only person we spoke to. We spent all of our time at the installation sites so it was nice to talk about whatever, as long as it was different from work. I am very sorry we couldn't say goodbye in person, but we were running our last day.
To Stephan girlfriend: Beautiful eyes! Sorry we don't remember your name. Thank you for your consideration and the dinner you made for us even after the kitchen was closed. You saved our life!
To the guy that served us breakfast every morning: Thank you for the patience and service.
To the kind ladies at the front desk: Thank you for your help the last morning we stayed at Saba. I couldn't have completed my job that day without you, and I am not talking only about the copies, but about the smiles and kindness. When in a rush, a smile can really make a difference.
I really hope I can come back to Saba any time soon, and if I do, be sure I will undoubtedly stay at Saba Divers Scout's Place Hotel. Best wishes to everyone!
Once again thank you for being such wonderful hosts on our trip to Saba. All the group that I have spoken to recently are still on a "Saba high" - it's been tough getting back to the real world. We all really enjoyed and appreciated the friendly service of both your hotel and dive staff.
I thought you may be interested to read our SFDI July newsletter which has some photos from the trip. You can find it by going to www.sfdi.com and clicking on "July newsletter" or directly at http://www.sfdi.com/July2009News.html
I have also written a review which is on tripadvisor (under Id floridakiwi53) which I think you will like. Cathy also wrote a review there.
I trust all is well with you

The location was convenient to everything Saba, particularly the excellent restaurants and sites in and around Windwardside. The owners and staff were very hands on and worked to get to know you and make sure your needs are met. The food was unbelievably good...much better than we expected. We met people staying at other resorts who frequented the Scout's Place restaurant due to the quality of the food. Finally, the views are incredible, particularly in the cottages. Sitting on the any of the open-air porches with a cold one and looking out at the sea was a priceless experience. We would definitely stay here again!!

Thank you Wolfgang & Barbara for a great place to stay (and sing Sabaoke - "Friends in Low Places") and hospitality.
Thank you Bettina for answering all my email questions and meeting arrangements for the gym.
Thank you Nienke for the warm welcome to Saba and changing our WinAir flights.
Thank you Steve, Hilary & Josh for taking us to the best dive spots we've ever been AND for unbelievable service, care and great attention to detail. It was noticed and VERY MUCH appriciated. You were an amazing crew! Thank you very much to the fine folks of Scout's Place for making our stay a memorable one.
We will recommend Scout's Place & Saba Divers to every diver we come across. It's been by far the most contious diving staff & most "marvolous" diving sites.
You have set the bar very high for our next destination!

Our Budget Pick: Scout's Place Hotel, Bar, Restaurant & Dive Center
Rates start at just $87/night - in the high season - at this cute scuba-shop-cum-restaurant-cum-hotel. Located in the heart of the "gingerbread village" of Windwardside, Scout's is within walking distance of almost everything - including the tourist office. All rooms have their own bathroom, balconies, and free wireless, and most have an ocean view.
There's also a pool onsite, a dive shop, and a bar where everyone - locals, divers and tourists - mingle. This is not only our budget place to stay, but our choice if you're traveling alone - the people couldn't be friendlier, and we can't think of a more chilled-out place to stay. They also have "stay and dive" packages.

The Caribbean's Most Pristine Scene: Saba

Great vacation at Scout's Place
My family and I were looking for a location in the Caribbean that was still quiet and had some activities to do, and Saba was suggested to us. It certainly did not disappoint us. We arrived on the tiny island by air - that in itself was an amazing experience! and stayed at Scouts Place where the rooms are good standard, the food is great and the Sabaoke night is a truly unique experience!! The staff there are all really helpful and very hospitable.
We arrived not long after Hurricain Omar hit the island the the only place that suffered any damage was down in the Fort Bay where the dive shops are. The damage was quite bad from the pictures we saw but they are all operating and re-building. As new divers we had heard that the diving in Saba is advanced and quite difficult, and yes there are some sites that are deep and a bit more advanced but most of the diving is really fantastic reefs, not too deep and the to be honest it was Rodney and Hillary at the dive shop Saba Divers have that made it perfect for us. They are both very professional, really patient and just gave us every opportunity to get the best from the diving there. No rush just relax and enjoy the water, it was fantastic to be with people who still care about what they do! Thankyou guys!
Everyone on Saba is kind, hospitable and willing to chat. Something we certainly seem to have forgotten about living in the busy USA. My family and I had a wonderful time just relaxing, walking, sitting watching the sunset over a great cocktail or two...so thanks to everyone at the hotel and dive shop for making this a really memorable vacation...we will be back next year!

I will be back for sure!

My husband and I stayed here after leaving another hotel on the island. Marie was able to accomodate us at the last minute and was very welcoming and friendly. She even helped us carry our bags upstairs. We checked out before we left the island and they let us store our bags and even come back and swim in the pool later in the day. Lillian in the bar/restaurant was also wonderful! It is the place to stay on a budget in Saba. The location is perfect (right in the heart of Windwardside)! The room was very clean, and comfortable. The view could not be beat! The pool was sparkling and refreshing. I especially like that someone was always available if you needed them. I can't say enough wonderful things!

I just wanted to say thank you for a wonderful vacation.
You made my first trip to the Caribbean very enjoyable.
It is sad to be back in the states. You run a first rate
operation. I have told everyone how wonderful everything
was. The best part being the people of Saba and the staff
at Scout's Place. I hope this finds you all well. Enjoy

The staff at both Scout's Place & Saba Divers are the very best. They're knowledgable, helpful, fun and good natured in all situations. Our trip would not have been the same without the great people. Thanks

Letter from PADI January 31, 2007 to Saba Divers
PADI recently received a very complimentary course evaluation questionnaire from Mr. John R. W., who completed a PADI Enriched Air Diver Course at your facility. John was very satisfied with the training received and also specifically mentioned the outstanding service provided by your staff.
Professional effort and dedication such as that described in this consumer's letter help to keep the PADI organization at the forefront of diver education and service. We would like to extend our appreciation to you and your staff for the fine job you are doing representing PADI.
Best wishes for continued success in all your diving activities.

Letter from John to PADI
It was a great training experience. I have been diving for 25 years, and this course was consistent with the professionalism I would expect from PADI instructor and facility. The SABA DIVERS group really runs a top shelf operation, and I will be back to dive with them again.
Dear Barbara & Wolfgang
Thank you very much for the pleasant stay and your warm hospitality!.

My wife, Susan, and I want to express our thanks to you and your staff for making our recent stay on Saba so enjoyable. We had the opportunity to work in sightseeing, hiking, visiting some old friends, and meeting new ones.
Although Scout's Place has expanded over the years, I am glad to see that its charm and friendliness has not suffered. Thanks especially to your office staff, Bettina and Melanie, for their excellent recommendations, efficiency, and cheerful assistance! We are sure you know what a great asset they are.
Be assured we will recommend Scout's to our family and friends. With every good wish, I am yours sincerely

Thanks again for the extraordinary vacation last weekend. I can't wait to come back. Your whole staff was very friendly and professional at all times. You made me feel like "one of the gang." It was sad to leave. Safety practices were subtlety abided by the dive staff. That is the sign of a successful dive operation.
I am going to send a present for you to present to Bob (Bob is our dive base leader, the editor) as a gift during the next Karaoke night. Don't tell him I sent it but I'm sure he will guess it is "gold" from Buffalo Billy. I hope to visit again...soon.

I can not begin to tell you how much I loved Scout's place. Before I arrived I had many questions. Literally within hours all of my questions were answered, making my trip to Saba quite enjoyable.
Once I arrived in Saba, the hotel staff were waiting for me. They helped me with my scuba gear and gave me a quick run-down of all the hotel amenities.
The dive operation affiliated with Scout's were beyond amazing. They were always on time and the instructors/dive masters were so nice. They went beyond to make sure every dive trip was as good or better then the last.
I have to say that the room was very clean and furnished very tastefully. I enjoyed the food at the restaurant and appreciated how close the hotel was to the little town.
I recommend Scout's 100 percent. I hope that this review is helpful to future travelers.
Dear Saba Divers
I’m writing just to say “Thanks Saba Divers” for the great experience diving with you all. On June 3, 2006 a small group of us dove with Bob and Mel and had a terrific time. They were both tremendously knowledgeable about both the topography of the dive sites as well as the marine life we would see. I felt very comfortable with the preparation and safety checks of our gear, the dive briefs, the professionalism, and very friendly attitudes of our hosts Bob and Marie. Again, I wanted to say thank you for a wonderful experience and I look forward to diving with you all again soon.

I would like to express my sincere thanks to you and all the staff at Scout's Place. The room was delightful and your staff presented the best profile that Scout's Place had to offer. I look forward to the opportunity to frequent Scout's Place again in the not too distant future, when I return to Saba, to visit family and meet with friends.
Once again my sincere thanks.

Dear Wolfgang & Barbara
A single word describes my experience on Saba - phenomenal. Saba is truly a unique place on the planet - I feel most fortunate to have the opportunity to visit you and your tiny island .
I thoroughly enjoyed my eight days of diving. My only regret is that I didn't plan to stay a bit longer.
Please give my fondest regards and thanks to your entire staff. Everyone help to make my stay a true pleasure. See you soon again ;-)
Best personal regards

Dear Scout's Place,
I just wanted to write you and tell you that all of us had an AMAZING time while at Scout's Place. The staff was wonderful in making sure we were taken care of while staying with you. Customer service was great from the minute we walked in the door to when Alexander dropped us off ate the airport. We have had some trouble finding places that have good customer service around the islands so we weren't sure what to do when the staff was so pleasant. Our dives were amazing and the dive masters were friendly and knowledgeable, which made our diving experience great. I have forwarded some information to our Dive Club president at the university. I told her how much fun we had and she wanted your email. We looking forward to come again and explore the great diving of Saba.
Please tell the staff thank you for being patient with such a large group and for being so customers service friendly.

Simone and I want to extent our deepest appreciation for your warm hospitality and care during our brief 2 day visit to the Scout. We have been diving throughout the Caribbean over the past 5-6 years and we both agree - Saba was one of the best diving experiences we have had. It also helps that the scenery, people and service was exceptional.
Wolfgang - Thanks for the VCD it will serve as a reminder of our stay.
Eddie - thank you for the safe navigation around the Island and great conversation.
Marco & Hester - thanks for the excellent dive site selection and keeping Simone cool and safe!
Keep the Carib's cold....we'll be back soon.

Hello Barbara, Wolfgang, Mike and Jessica
Jon and I wanted you to know what an absolute fantastic time we had during our nine nights and eight days diving in Saba. Your hospitality was wonderful. The diving was terrific. Everyone at Scout's Place and Saba Divers was helpful , kind, thoughtful and courteous. We appreciated that you went out of your way on numerous occasions to make our stay a perfect one. Saba is an incredible place and we hope to return many times. There is no one else we would even consider staying or diving with. Kudos to all of your staff. Thanks very much.

Dear Barbara, Wolfgang & all Staff
Franz and I could not have wished for a more perfect setting for our second honeymoon. In a way, I think we actually appreciated Saba more now than we would have 20 years ago. My hope is that we will return again someday to Saba and Scout's Place. It was a great pleasure to get to know not only Saba, but all of you as well after 12 days, many of you feel like family and we wish only the best to all of you in the future.
Sally and Franz Stenzel, Anderson, South Carolina, USA - January 2002
Even though we didn't do any diving (which I'm sure is quite impressive too), Saba left lasting impression with us. It's terrible we didn't make it all the way to the Mount Scenery, so we have a big reason to come back soon. Anyway, we had a good time on Saba and your hospitable hotel. See you again!

Barbara & Wolfgang and all the Staff at Scout's
A quick week out of the craziness of New York City. A little diving and a little relaxing. What I found was an abundance of both. The diving was excellent! and the hospitality overwhelming. The Staff on the boats and the hotel were wonderful. Keep up the great work because I will be back for another visit. Thank so much for everything! Deeply,

Dear Barbara, Wolfgang & Staff
What a wonderful place! Thanks for your hospitality and great diving! We enjoyed Jeffrey's one-note singing & Jen's dancing. The BBQ night was great fun. All the food was good. We enjoyed meeting the dive guys' pretty girlfriends and the after hours cocktail party! The dive maniacs and Manta finders (sorry Jeffrey).

Just a short visit. Only 6 days but an unforgettable experience. Warm hospitality and not to mention the diving. This was superb. It was a great stay with you. Thanks for everything.

Special thanks to all our many customers, employees, friends and family who helped us to rebuild Scout's Place and make Saba Divers a professional and well organized dive center. A very special thanks goes out to our patents, Felica, Siggi & Micheal Schoen from Germany for their support and encouragement.
