Company history For many years Barbara was the managing director of a very successful advertisement company in Germany before she opened her own business in Cologne. Wolfgang was a self-employed businessman for more than 20 years and a high-ranking dive instructor & chef. Their first trip to Saba was in 1999 to explore the possibility of establishing Saba's first and only European Dive operation. The Saba government was positive about the idea and so "Saba Divers" was founded. On their mission to find a suitable place for a dive center office within Windwardside, Scout's Place Hotel came up as a possible location. To make a long story short, Scout's Place Hotel, Bar & Restaurant became part of the solution. Before they had a chance to enjoy their new business hurricane "Lenny" came along in November 1999 and destroyed a main portion of Scout's Place. Which was sad but gave them the possibility for a NEW & FRESH start. In February 2000 they moved to Saba and founded the SaBarakuda Enterprises N.V., which combined the businesses of Saba Divers & Scout's Place. After receiving a container with equipment, boat and truck they (Saba Divers) started services shortly after.  In 2002 a dive center on Saba's Harbor "Fort Bay" was added, besides the boat "Bolero" the "Big Blue" was purchased and two years later the boat "Blue Star" as well. In 2004 Saba Divers became one of the first dive centers in the Caribbean, if not the only, to offer "Nitrox for free", with two new compressors and lots of new dive equipment and tanks. In the meantime Scout's Place Hotel, Bar & Restaurant was extensively renovated, whilst keeping its unique and typically Saban appeal, it now had international standards to satisfy worldwide customers demands. In 2006 the "Scout's Pirate cottage" was purchased and transformed into a diver friendly four person cottage. Today, Saba Divers & Scout's Place is one of the leading dive operators and hotels on Saba. Due to our positive attitude, professional service, dedicated staff and management we are always here to satisfy our customer's needs and we always go the extra mile for them when needed.
